Who am I?
I'm a freelance writer in Seattle with a passion for photography. I know some professionals hate hobbyists, but I think that there is room for all of us. Experts and amateurs alike share a love for distilling the chaos and beauty of life into images. We share a love for freezing moments in time; of binding to the ephemeral. Through the lens, we try to cheat death.
Why photography?
As a writer, I find a particular satisfaction in exploring a new form of storytelling; one that is purely visual. The late, legendary Ansel Adams once said: “A true photograph need not be explained, nor can it be contained in words.” I am learning a different form of communication, and I like the challenge inherent in this pursuit.
What I'm working toward
Since I am just starting out, I can't say what my style is, as it has not introduced itself to me yet. I have my predictions on what it might become, but my hope is simply that I continue to derive pleasure from it, and that I am patient with it and with myself no matter how slowly the evolution. The ultimate satisfaction would be for people to be moved by what I present in the world, but I think that is too ambitious a goal for me—my eye is untrained; my skill undeveloped (one might argue that it is nonexistent). For now, it is enough for me that I alone find fulfillment.
